Long a speed secret among top professional racing teams, Rock Batteries come to NHRA Drag Racing from the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, where they boast an impressive 99% usage rate. Used by Roush, RCR and Hendrick Motorsports, Scott Bloomquist, Rick Eckert, Doug Bigelow and others.
Successful Pro drag racers like Warren Johnson, Al Billes, Chip King, Rick DiStefano, Jim Oddy, Quain Stott and others have all been quietly using Rock Batteries for several years. Now that same quality, dependability and tire-shake resistant technology is available to you now.
All Rock Batteries feature absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery technology. AGM technology was originally developed in 1985 for military aircraft usage where, just like in racing, a battery"s power, weight, safety and reliability are paramount considerations. Now this technology has been incorporated into the Rock line of maintenance-free, deep cycle racing batteries. Rock Batteries are designed to provide the increased power necessary for today’s racing electronics and engine starting requirements.

The technology that makes up Rock Batteries is simple. Each cell is sealed with pressure relief valves that provide a positive pressure within the battery. The battery"s plates are separated with a micro-fibrous silica glass mat (AGM) that consists of glass fibers of varying lengths and diameters. The fibers provide good wicking and promote retention of electrolyte. The electrolyte is absorbed and held in place by a capillary action between the fluid and the glass fibers. This form of construction technology makes Rock Batteries particularly resistant to failure from tire-shake.

Racing Batteries are are certified by the following regulatory agencies:

  • · All batteries are hand made in ISO 9001:2000 Certified facilities.

    · Non-Spill able / Maintenance Free design. The case will not leak if damaged. Mounts in virtually any position.

    · Exceptionally low internal resistance that generates greater starting power and allows for faster recharging time.

    · Handmade and tested in the United States for best performance, and highest quality.

    · 20% lighter than comparable "light-weight" batteries of equal power.

    · Superior shock and vibration resistance due to AGM construction.

    · Inter-cell connectors are twice the normal size to prevent unwanted failures.

    · Every Rock Racing Battery is fully factory charged and tested prior to shipment.

  • BATTERY DESIGN

Durability: Some battery designs are simply more durable than others. They are more forgiving in abusive conditions, i.e.; they are less susceptible to vibration or shock damage, over charging and deep discharge damage. Gel cell batteries are the most likely to suffer irreversible damage from overcharging. Flooded acid batteries are the most likely to suffer from internal shorting and vibration damage. Rock Advanced AGM batteries are more durable and can withstand severe shock and vibration as well as fast charging.

Efficiency: This comparison is critical. Internal resistance of a battery denotes its overall charge/discharge efficiency, its ability to deliver high cranking currents without significant drops in voltage and is a measure of how well it has been designed and manufactured. For flooded wet cell batteries, internal resistance can be as high as 26%. Gel cell batteries are comparably better at only approximately 16% internal resistance and require only roughly 116% of rated capacity to be fully charged.

Rock Advanced AGM style batteries have the lowest internal resistance of any battery manufactured, only 2%. This allows them to be charged much faster if needed and also to deliver higher power when required.

Battery Criteria Comparisons: Most buyers like to make comparisons by using various specifications and measurements.

Common comparison criteria include Cold Cranking Amps or CCA, which is a clear indicator of a battery’s ability to start an engine.

Reserve minutes depict a battery’s ability to deliver current at steady rates from a fully charged condition down to 10.5 volts and are expressed in minutes, i.e. xx reserve minutes at 25 amp discharge.

Life Cycles are used to measure longevity or how many times a battery can be discharged in its life time at set levels.
